At #SXSW2026, I joined amgenbiotech to talk about influence — and how athletes can use it for something bigger than the game. 
 
For me, that’s meant advocating for cardiovascular health since my heart attack. Sharing my story hasn’t always been easy, but seeing the impact it’s had on fans and even my own loved ones has been incredibly rewarding.
 
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: take control of your heart health early. I didn’t realize how much high LDL (“bad”) cholesterol could increase my risk for a heart attack. I wish I had understood that sooner.
 
I also encourage others — athletes and beyond — to share their stories. You never know who might be listening. If opening up about my experience helps even one person check their LDL-C sooner, it’s worth it.
