A chair can be an object that we view only for its functionality. A non-object… we sit down, we do our task and move on. Later in the day if asked what color it was, we couldn’t say.

A chair can also captive us, move us with its form, it’s materials and juxtaposition.

Whether it does one thing or the other to a person, it doesn’t change the object.

For me, in this season of my life they are vessels for telling stories. For connecting the dots in my city and working with the people who inspire me.

kingkennedyrugs is a local rug dealer who approached me years ago about upholstering a chair with a rug (it sounded hard) but with persistence this project came to life and it captured the attention of people who saw the beauty in these ancient artifacts reimagined.

I love watching #theinheritancecollection grow and morph and become a vessel for new stories.
