The manufacturing process of an artificial stone countertop involves steps that go beyond what many might imagine. It all starts with crushing, where natural stones like quartz are reduced to an extremely fine powder. This material is then mixed with synthetic resins and pigments to create a uniform composition.

The resulting mixture is molded into the desired shape and undergoes curing and polishing processes until it achieves the perfect finish. However, this production is not without its impacts: the intensive use of chemical compounds and industrial processes means that artificial materials emit significantly more pollutants than natural stones.

Moreover, the crushing of stones generates ultrafine silica particles, which can be inhaled by unprotected workers, leading to silicosis – a severe and irreversible lung disease. These factors raise important questions about sustainability and health within the industry.

With all this in mind, perhaps it’s time to rethink our choices: prioritizing natural materials may not only be healthier for those who produce them but also more responsible for the environment.
