This viral video was first posted by X handle: Mumbai matters on 31st Dec 23.

While Indian Railways promotes the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission), this video exposes a different story and this guy is portraying a different story and treating earth as their personal litterbox.

Most cleaning staff, often on contract, face the pressure of delivering clean coaches without proper waste management systems in place.

This just isn’t about just one video, anyone who uses Indian railway knows that these practices are quite common. 

The Indian Railways (ir) is the second biggest railway network in Asia. As of now, there is no comprehensive system to collect and manage this enormous amount of waste.

This isn’t I am the one who pointing this out **CAG pointed out some of the grave issues:**

- there is no system of dedicated fund allocation specifically for waste management.
- Non-functional or non-commissioned Effluent/Sewage Treatment Plants (ETPs/STPs), leading to untreated wastewater discharge.
• Untreated effluent contains pollutants like waste oil, chemicals, and sludge, which can contaminate groundwater and water bodies.

There is not a single authority to take responsibility of waste management in railways. What do you think of this?

Railway just responded to this video with a tweet to share the PNR and we’ll take action against this vendor.
