I welcome the judgment .The Supreme Court of India has said it clearly. You cannot deny women officers Permanent Commission,
then judge them on that very denial.
Flawed ACRs. Pre-decided outcomes.
And then questions on “merit”.
This isn’t just discrimination ...it’s systemic bias.
I personally feel that, it’s a big win for equality.
But it also exposes a hard truth 
Merit was never the issue. Mindset was.
Time for accountability. Not just acknowledgment.
This is for each and every woman officer in uniform:  your journey was never meant to be easy, but it was always meant to be extraordinary. When systems doubted you, you still delivered; when opportunities were delayed, you still stood taller; and when merit was questioned, you answered with performance, dignity, and unwavering courage. Remember this no flawed report, no biased mindset, and no delayed recognition can define your worth. You are not in the Forces by exception; you are there by capability. Stand firm, lead with confidence, and never seek validation from a system that is still learning to catch up with your strength. The future of the Armed Forces will not just include you it will be shaped by you.
The moment equality is enforced, discomfort begins and that discomfort is now being dressed up as “justification.”
Let’s be clear: the judgment of the Supreme Court of India is not against men it is against bias. Defending flawed systems in the name of tradition or “male superiority” does not strengthen the Armed Forces; it weakens their credibility.
The argument that defence of the nation is “by men” is not a fact it is a historical construct shaped by denied opportunities. Capability has never been gender-exclusive; opportunity has been.
You cannot deny women equal access for decades, assess them on that denial, and then claim they are “less capable.” That is not merit but manipulation of merit.
And this constant comparison men versus women misses the point entirely. Women are not seeking comparison; they are asserting equality. The same Constitution that governs you governs them.
