## Caption

The consumption of substances either natural or man made to achieve altered states of consciousness is as old as civilisation.  It’s said that the ancient Greeks were consuming a hallucinogenic fungus called ergot to achieve these altered states. Were the philosophical, scientific and mathematical breakthroughs of the Greeks partly due to the fact that they were tripping balls? I’m not sure but it’s an interesting time in the space of “plant medicine” with a wider acceptance and understanding from the mainstream that maybe there’s more that we can learn about ourselves from these altered states.
