“Disrupt and Read Defense” 
If you’ve even watched high level beach volleyball, you’ll notice defenders moving around all the time. What they’re trying to do is make the attacker think they’re somewhere, and bait them into shooting or hitting that area - then with the right timing, they can go and run this ball down or be in a spot they’ve “primed” the attacker into hitting. 

There is a lot that goes into this, and not just one way works but one thing is for sure - you need to plan the move ahead, have the right timing with your move, and be athletic and ready to shift gears if you have to. 

Study some film, start experimenting and stick what works for you. 

Once you get the hang of it, you’ll start seeing more digs in your lap than ever before.
