HARD LEVEL 10000x 🌋 Seriously the hardest hike I’ve ever done and I felt it needed its own carousel because wow what a journey 🥹 (I cried several times during)

The Acatenango + Fuego volcano hikes are not for the faint of heart, and I mean that in a literal sense. I workout three times a week, danced all through april-june and I still found this extremely physically and mentally challenging. The first day when we were just heading towards base camp, was extra hard because it was rainy/cloudy so you also could not see anything but the steps in front of you. It’s slippery, it’s sweaty and freezing at the same time and it’s STEEP, all the way + you’re carrying winter clothes, all your meals and 3L of water on your back.Absolutely horrible if you also get altitude sickness because base camp is 3500+ meters above sea level.

The sunrise hike to the summit is EVEN HARDER, because you do it in the dark and if you’re not careful, you can literally slip and slide down the soil lf the volcano. Luckily we were able to see the Fuego volcano even through rainy season 😭 and I’m so grateful I did this tour with the coolest two french guys. 🫶🏼

(ps no I did not do the fuego hike - that’s an extra 3h on the same day that you reach base camp 😭)
