🐍 The Bitis nasicornis, commonly known as the Rhinoceros Viper, is one of Africa's most visually striking venomous snakes, characterized by its distinctive set of two to three pairs of horn-like scales protruding from its snout. These nasal "horns," which give the species its common name, are believed to help camouflage the snake among fallen leaves and may aid in protecting its head while moving through dense vegetation. The snake's dramatic coloration features a complex geometric pattern of blue-black, yellow, and crimson triangular markings, making it one of the most ornately patterned snakes in the world.⁠

From a physiological perspective, the Rhinoceros Viper possesses a remarkably sophisticated venom delivery system.
