An AI-based historical documentary exploring the legacy, culture, and untold events of Kuttichira’s iconic Mishkal Mosque.

Alfonso de Albuquerque was appointed as the Viceroy of Portuguese India after Vasco da Gama. In 1510, Portuguese Commander Albuquerque arrived in Malabar and Travancore with a large army. They brought the local kings under their control. Later, they invited the Zamorin Raja for peace talks. They demanded that Arab traders be expelled, all trade be completely given to them, and they be allowed to construct forts.

However, the Zamorin Raja rejected this demand. This was because he knew that while the Arabs spent their revenue locally, the Portuguese would drain all the wealth from the region. This dispute led to a major war. Fierce battles took place between the Portuguese and the Zamorin’s army. However, the Portuguese were defeated by the strong resistance put up by the Zamorin’s ground forces and Kunjali Marakkar’s naval fleet.
Realizing that the strength of the Zamorin’s army lay in Hindu-Muslim unity, the Portuguese decided to break that unity.
