"As a member of Gen Z, I was more into dinosaurs than professional cycling when Quick-Step first came into existence in 2003. This was years before the team’s temporary rebrand to T-Rex Quick-Step during the 2024 Vuelta a España. As I moved from one obsession to the next (lions and tigers, Lego, football…), Quick-Step partnered with different sponsors (Davitamon, Omega Pharma, Deceuninck…). But one thing stayed constant: their dominance of the Classics.

"When I got into cycling in the early 2010s, the team was already well-established as the strongest Classics squad. As a 12-year-old, the blue kit (my favourite colour) was initially enough for me to develop a soft spot, but soon it was the team’s racing style that really fascinated me. They won through strength in numbers, and always looked like a bunch of mates riding their socks off for one another.

"In recent years, a shift towards Grand Tour ambitions saw their presence at the Classics begin to fade. In my article, Back on the Wolf Tracks, I follow The Wolfpack's return to their roots, through an exclusive interview with sports director Tom Steels. We look ahead to the team's new era, and ask whether they can recapture the magic that made so many of us fall in love with this sport in the first place."
