I had a few people ask me what I made the rocks out of on Morgok’s display base. It’s this stuff, a high density modelling board for prototyping and CNC milling. 

It’s got the nick name Uriel board (not sure how it’s spelt) in our hobby. It’s perfect for carving, sanding (use a mask) and takes paint very well. I’ve been using it in various ways on hobby projects for many years. 

I’m still using the same thin sheets I bought from a mate of mine over 10 years ago now, but my wife reminded me this morning that I’d bought a block of the stuff a long time ago for a project that didn’t happen. Anyway, rooting around I managed to find it in a box tucked away at the back of my workshop. 

This is the smallest block I could find at the time, so you can see it’s difficult to get hold of in small quantities because of what it’s real world job is. This block is probably enough to keep even the most prolific hobbyist going until the day they die 🤪 I haven’t been able to do anything with it as I lacked the tools to cut it into clean, manageable sheets without losing a lot of material from the blade cuts. 

If I ever figure how best to cut it up into sheets I’ll happily sell it to you on my brand spanking new website I launched this weekend (shameless plug… link in bio 😅) until the block is all gone. Suggestions for best tools more than welcome! #wiltrichs #wiltrichsminiatureart
