‘White Iverson’ Post Malone (2015)

“White Iverson” is the debut breakout single by Post Malone, originally uploaded to his SoundCloud on February 4, 2015, and later released through Republic Records on August 14, 2015.  Produced by Post Malone, FKi 1st, and Rex Kudo, the track was inspired by Malone getting braids and feeling like professional basketball player Allen Iverson.  The song’s melodic blend of “saucin’” and “swaggin’” lyrics over a smooth, atmospheric beat helped it peak at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and serve as the lead single for his 2016 debut album, Stoney.

Commercially, the track has achieved massive milestones, earning over one billion streams on Spotify, one billion views on YouTube, and a Diamond certification from the RIAA.  The low-budget music video, which cost only $5,000 to produce, features Malone in a Rolls-Royce in the desert and has become a definitive visual of the mid-2010s Soundcloud rap era.
