‘Show Me’ Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown (2013)

“Show Me” is the lead single from Kid Ink’s second studio album, My Own Lane, released on September 17, 2013, through Tha Alumni Music Group, 88 Classic, and RCA Records.  The track features vocals from Chris Brown and served as a major commercial breakthrough for Kid Ink, significantly benefiting from the “Mustard on the beat” production style that dominated urban radio during this era.

The record was produced by DJ Mustard and Mike Free, and it was written by Kid Ink (Brian Collins), Chris Brown, Dijon McFarlane (DJ Mustard), Mikely Adam (Mike Free), and Jeremih Felton.  Musically, it is built on a bouncy, rhythmic West Coast club instrumental that heavily interpolates the synth line and melody from Robin S.’s 1990 classic “Show Me Love,” giving the modern R&B/hip‑hop track a nostalgic house-music foundation.

On the Billboard charts, “Show Me” reached its peak position of number 13 on the Hot 100 on April 1, 2014.  The single was highly successful on specialized charts, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and hitting number one on the Billboard Rhythmic chart.  It eventually achieved multi‑platinum certification from the RIAA, reflecting sustained popularity and millions of units in sales and streaming.

The official music video, premiered on November 12, 2013, was directed by Chris Brown himself and produced by Jay Tauzin.  The visual is set at a house party and features a performance‑driven narrative with cameo appearances from professional skateboarders Nyjah Huston, Terry Kennedy, Stevie Williams, and Fuzzy.
