‘Duffle Bag Boy’ Playaz Circle ft. Lil Wayne (2007)

“Duffle Bag Boy” is the debut single by the American hip‑hop duo Playaz Circle—consisting of 2 Chainz (then known as Tity Boi) and Dolla Boy—featuring Lil Wayne.  Released on May 1, 2007, the track served as the lead single for the duo’s debut studio album, Supply & Demand, which was issued on October 30, 2007, through Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP) and Def Jam South Recordings.

The song was produced by M16 (Joshua Banks) and Liam Kantwill, and it was written by Tauheed Epps (2 Chainz), Earl Conyers (Dolla Boy), Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (Lil Wayne), and Joshua Banks.  Sonically, the track is defined by its dark, mid‑tempo trap production and Lil Wayne’s melodic, high‑energy chorus, which became one of the most recognizable hooks of the late 2000s.  Lil Wayne famously only performs the hook on the original version, leaving the verses to the Playaz Circle duo.

Commercially, “Duffle Bag Boy” reached its peak at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 22, 2007.  It was highly successful on urban formats, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number 2 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.  The record’s popularity was a pivotal moment for 2 Chainz’s early career and further solidified Lil Wayne’s dominant run of guest features in 2007.

The official music video was directed by Chaka Zulu, the co‑founder and CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace.  Released in mid‑2007, the visual features a narrative of the duo navigating their hometown of College Park, Georgia, before meeting up with Lil Wayne for a performance.  An official remix was later released featuring new verses from Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Juelz Santana, along with a separate performance version featuring Ludacris.
