‘Privileged Rappers’ Drake & 21 Savage (2022)

“Privileged Rappers” is a collaboration between Drake and 21 Savage from their joint album Her Loss, released on November 4, 2022 through OVO Sound and Republic Records. Positioned early in the tracklist, the song finds both artists taking aim at peers they see as unproven or overhyped, contrasting their own work ethic and track record with a new wave of artists who they suggest have had an easier path. 

The track is produced by Earl on the Beat, GENT, and Lil Yachty, pairing dark, minimal keys with hard drums to give space for the verses and distinctive hook. Although not pushed as a primary single, “Privileged Rappers” quickly became a fan favorite, helped by the album’s overall streaming success and the ongoing run of collaborations between Drake and 21 that led up to Her Loss.
