I continued my reflection on anime pop culture and pushed my technique further this time. I spent time studying the techniques of the masters and wondered how I could translate some of their approaches to my workflow. It turned out to be a very interesting challenge, and I had to learn a lot of new skills. A few of the characters, for example, have their facial expressions slightly changing during the shot.

Although it might not be the most obvious aspect of this piece, I spent time fine-tuning the characters (specifically their features) to make them seem like they belong to an era rather than a specific genre or author. This was quite interesting from a conceptual point of view about my work and an important skill I had been wanting to solidify for a while now.

I love pop culture and understanding how classic anime was created so I can translate this knowledge to cutting-edge techniques. Speaking of which, ComfyUI was my go-to AI tool. I created workflows that mimic the matte painting techniques of the genre, and I worked on having consistent characters with different expressions. Everything was upscaled in magnific_ai. I used Midjourney with an input image and --iw 3 to get a variation from my original generations. I used leonardoaiofficial to animate the buildings and avoid having to create a full-blown scene in Blender with UV mapping.

This piece is quite complex, and without AI, it would have taken me weeks, if not months, to produce it. I love how these new tools help me gain time and create a repository of works that are otherwise no longer really produced, not with this aesthetic at least.
