Behind the scenes: In Chapter 4 of The Clayborne Chronicles, we briefly meet the mysterious Makers of the Firren.

I wanted them to feel ancient and unsettling—but not monstrous or overtly godlike. They needed to exist on a higher plane than their handcrafted creations, without losing a sense of material reality.

The Makers themselves are meant to feel handcrafted—rigid, woodlike, with an emphasis on the imperfections of their hands. It took several iterations to get there, but the final design felt right.

What I love about The Clayborne Chronicles is weaving visual anomalies directly into the story—sometimes by intention, sometimes by chance. Each chapter is stitched together day by day, slowly forming a cohesive whole.

The Clayborne Chronicles is an original dark fantasy series set in a forgotten age of felt and thread. Written, directed, and produced by Gaetana Pipia.

Visuals are created through a hybrid process of keyframe animation, AI tools, compositing, and cinematic editing.
