I play and finish one story based game every single month and march I wrapped up Silent Hill F… and here are some of my thoughts on it! 

I’ll start off with what I disliked because honestly, I enjoyed most of my experience with it. I got it on sale and feel like I got my moneys worth through this experience. 

As a game, I think gameplay is incredibly important, and for silent hill f I found most of the experience to be very repetitive. I’ll boil it down to the game wanting you to fetch 3 key items to open one key door, to continue pushing through the journey and this became the recipe for the entire game. It became dull quick and I found myself pulling up a guide so I can quickly push to the next area and this is my biggest gripe with the game. Some monster variety would have been nice as this added to the repetitive feeling. Some might be immediately turned off by that and I completely understand but the rest of the game was so damn good that I couldn’t put it down. 

Now what I liked!

Let’s start with the obvious, the graphics were phenomenal everything was so visually stunning and paired up with the 1960’s small town Japan setting, it created an incredible atmosphere. The world was dark, mysterious, familiar, and just in general gorgeous. We haven’t had a setting like this in a game that was this well done in who knows how long, it was a treat to play through. 

The music was beautiful and haunting, I kept feeling stunned by how good it was. Soundtrack purchase worthy. 

You can play it with the original Japanese voice acting or dubbed, I personally went with the original voice acting and it was great. Acting was top notch and really helped with the immersion of where this game was taking place. 

The story was really good and it gave us a perspective that you don’t often see in gaming, what it’s like to be a woman in 1960’s Japan. It was sad, depressing and hopeful. (Depending on what ending you got of course) it was so well done and fit perfectly into the Silent Hill Recipe.
