Today we’re heading to The Golden State for our Army ROTC #CadetOfTheWeek 🎉 

Meet Zoe Schenk, a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Davis. 

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Schenk joined #ArmyROTC after becoming interested in the military at a young age. 

“By the time I was in high school, I knew I wanted to serve. Several of my friends who had graduated went on to join ROTC, and encouraged me to consider it as a pathway to pursuing both education and the Army.”

“In my opinion, the biggest opportunity ROTC provides is mentorship. During my first week at college, the administration told us that the most successful students have at least two peers, and two professors who mentor them. From the first day, my program was full of cadre and cadets who were excited to push me and see what I could do.” 

Schenk is the number one cadet within the Forged Gold Battalion. She received the Military Order of the World Wars Award during her time with 4th Regiment, #AdvancedCamp at #CadetSummerTraining, and she’s served as Ranger Challenge Captain and Cadet Battalion Commander. 

“I think one of the best parts about learning to lead is the people you find around yourself, who are trying to do the same.”

When not crushing her Army ROTC goals or studying, Schenk loves being outside—especially climbing around the Adirondacks and swimming in the Great Lakes. 

Schenk is a member of the Davis Country Swing Club and the Davis Christian Fellowship. She loves swing dancing with friends, exploring, baking, and reading. 

Way to go Cadet Schenk, keep up the great work 👏👏
