Episode 1, removing the make up. glacedessert

Well, it’s not really “demolition day”, more like taking out old plasters, old decorations, mirrors and bolts so we can repainted the entire space.

To make matter worse, we just had a casual electricity out for no reason. It’s like the universe cheeky way to tip my anxiety bucket to overflow.

We decided to replaster some of the big walls instead of stripping the old ones because value for money and time wise, it’s a lot more efficient

We also had good chat with our joiner around this phase . Joineries are basically furnitures. Anything you custom would take time, and obviously more expensive. However it’s an identity of your space and it is built to match the shape and size of your space too. I’ll talk more about it in upcoming episodes.

See you in next episode of “GLACÉ Pastry shop renovation”

————————————

What we did during our first week:
1) took out old displays, furnitures, soft decorations (10 hours ish)
2) unscrew 1 million and 1 little rivets from the wall that was there to give “submarine” finish. Peel off the metal edgings, patch, sand, replaster some damaged ones
3) moved entire equipments that we are going to re-use for storage and ordering in new furnitures. Some off the shelves and some custom.

Tips: take some time to understand your joinery drawings, materials. And work very closely with your designers and tradies. The only way to do cost management is to understand what, why and when aspects for everything.
