Tony Adams' Record, By scoring in the 16th minute, Tony Adams became the youngest England player to score at a European Championship at the time, aged 21 years and 252 days. He held this record for 16 years until Wayne Rooney broke it at Euro 2004.
End of an Era, This was the final international appearance for both Glenn Hoddle (53 caps) and Kenny Sansom (86 caps).
The "Hepatitis" Factor, It was later revealed that Gary Lineker, who failed to score in the tournament despite being the 1986 World Cup Golden Boot winner, had been suffering from hepatitis throughout the competition.
