BVB vs Coruña (UEFA Cup Second Leg). In December 1994, Borussia Dortmund and Deportivo La Coruña met in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Cup. The second leg is widely remembered in Dortmund history as the "Miracle of Saint Nicholas Day," as it featured a dramatic comeback in extra time.

The Comeback, After losing the first leg 1-0, Dortmund leveled the aggregate score through a Michael Zorc penalty. The match went to extra time, where Alfredo Santaelena scored for Deportivo in the 101st minute. At that point, due to the away goals rule, Dortmund needed to score twice in less than 20 minutes to advance.

Late Drama, Karl-Heinz Riedle scored a header in the 117th minute to make it 2-1. Just two minutes later, an 18-year-old Lars Ricken scored the decisive goal to send Dortmund through 3-2 on aggregate.
 
Tactical Shift, BVB manager Ottmar Hitzfeld made a crucial late substitution, bringing on the young Lars Ricken for Thomas Franck in the 70th minute, which ultimately decided the tie. 

Discipline, The second leg was highly physical, resulting in a red card for Deportivo's Donato and multiple yellow cards for players including Andreas Möller and Fran.
