It bears witness to the killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and mother of three, who was shot dead by an ICE agent on a snowy Minneapolis sidewalk on January 8, 2026, while peacefully observing and documenting a federal immigration raid as part of neighbourhood resistance efforts. Dreamlike imagery based on real events indicts a profit-driven prison-industrial complex fueled by $50,000 recruitment bonuses, unchecked intimidation tactics (following observers home, assaulting city officials), and a “comply or die” rhetoric voiced by figures like Rep. Troy Nehls. Centering Renee’s final words “That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you” as an act of radical mercy that outlives death, the song wants to symbolise an unbreakable community’s resolve to witness, remember, and resist state sanctioned hatred. Dreamwave with its signature haze, reverb-drenched melancholy, slowed tempos, and emotional distance mirror the surreal numbness and disbelief that follow sudden, state-sanctioned violence in which victims are immediately branded terrorists and perpetrators assured immunity.
