They say if you leave, you’re unpatriotic.

But Caribbean pride can’t only be measured by how long we stay home.

Sometimes, the most patriotic thing you can do… is leave to build.

Not all of us can stay.

Some of us need to go, explore, and tap into global opportunities — and bring that value back.

Look at the Asian nations:

- They’ve left, set up abroad, and built systems that feed their economies back home.
 -They understand the power of becoming a bridge.

Asia has what we struggle to access:

- Factories, labor, supplies, logistics, and infrastructure.

We gain so much by being here.

They get business.

But we get access to things our region has long needed to grow.

We need to stop thinking of it as abandonment and start looking at it as an assignment...Somebody has to do it, and this is your opportunity to tap into those new opportunities that are uniquely here for us. 

There is nothing more patriotic than becoming a connector who helps our region prosper in the digital age.

We can build better but it starts by giving ourselves permission to step beyond our borders.
