LIONS RALLY TO OUTLAST EDISON: The jserra.girlslax team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a hard-fought 17-12 comeback victory over the Edison Chargers in a nonleague contest at JSerra Catholic High School.

With the win, the Lions improve to 9-3 on the season.

The Chargers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Lions responded with a four-goal surge to close the period.

Senior Kate Berkus started and ended the run with scores, while senior Hannah Quinn and junior Viv Devir also finding the back of the net.

Berkus added her third score of the game early in the second period to give JSerra a 5-2 lead.

The Chargers answered back with five straight goals in a 3 minute, 47 second span of the period to re-capture the lead.

Berkus and Devir each scored late in the half, which ended with the Chargers leading 8-7.

Edison opened the second half with two straight goals to take a 10-7 lead.

But the Lions turned up the intensity and execution, resulting in a game-changing 9-0 burst.

Senior Cali Campbell scored her lone goal of the game which was followed by goals from Devir and Quinn to tie the game at 10-10.

Berkus closed the period with three straight goals to give the Lions a 13-10 heading into the fourth.

Quinn, Berkus, and freshman Paige Smith capped the run by finding the back of the net to extend the Lions advantage to 16-10.

Berkus produced her team-high ninth and final goal with 5:37 remaining to put the finishing touches on the Lions’ victory.

Before the game, the Lions honored Berkus, Quinn, Campbell, Ava Wensley, Coco Makos, and Elle Beck for their contributions to the program.
