Recognizing the Need for Enhanced Care 🫶

Did you know that January sees a high number of admissions to long-term care facilities? Often, the holiday season brings visits with family members we may not have seen in a while. For aging adults, signs that additional care is needed may become more apparent.

Certain physical changes are expected with age and are considered normal, such as decreased balance or hearing. But common behaviour can become concerning when you begin noticing an older family member falling more often or struggling to walk up and down the stairs. 

There may be signs of age-related struggles at home, too, like dishes piling up in the sink or the stove left on. Or maybe there isn't fresh food in the fridge. 

Considering moving a loved one to an assisted care facility is not an easy decision and there are many factors to weigh. The change can be a welcomed positive, offering better daily care with hands-on professionals and better social engagement, too. It may also be hard to agree on what's best for family members.
