After a 9-year architecture journey that began in the United States, I am thrilled to share my Final Thesis Project at Harvard GSD, titled “The Third Typology: Architecture on the Bank of the Bengawan Solo.”

This architectural thesis introduces a novel ‘third typology’ in Indonesian architecture, aimed at bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary design. It confronts the cultural and environmental disconnection brought about by rapid modernization and Western influences in the post-colonial era. Through the study of traditional Indonesian homes and their inherent environmental adaptations, the thesis champions a design philosophy that blends traditional wisdom with contemporary pragmatism. Concentrating on the Bengawan Solo River area, the project strives to create a harmonious, community-focused, and climatically responsive architectural solution. This approach not only conserves Indonesia’s rich heritage but also tackles the urgent challenges of urbanization, environmental sustainability, and social inclusivity. ✨

I extend my heartfelt thanks to my parents, family, friends, and, last but not least, my advisor ehoweler, for their unwavering support and the inspiring discussions and conversations we’ve shared.

This marks not the end, but rather the beginning of an exciting new chapter! Stay tuned for more! 💫
