Since October 7, the amount of propaganda and blatant misinformation we’ve seen about Israel has been overwhelming. The gaslighting. The erasure. The double standards. And the way “Zionist” has been weaponized — as if it’s a slur, instead of what it actually is: a belief in Jewish safety, sovereignty, and self-determination in our ancestral homeland.

For us, this isn’t theoretical. It’s personal.

Brit’s parents were supposed to leave for Israel today to visit family and friends they haven’t seen since before the war began. Their flight was canceled. No idea when it’ll be rescheduled. No clear answers. Just more uncertainty layered onto fear — a feeling Israeli families have lived with daily since October 7.

Let’s be clear:
🇮🇱 Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East.
💪 The IDF is one of the most diverse armies in the world — made up of Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, Ethiopians, immigrants, women, and queer soldiers.
🛡️ It exists to protect civilians — not harm them.
🏳️‍🌈 Israel remains the only country in the region where LGBTQ+ people are legally protected and can live freely.
🕊️ And yes, we can want peace and still defend our right to exist.

This Shabbat, we are lighting candles for the hostages, for our family, for Israel, and for truth.

If you’re with us, let it be known.
Visibility matters. So does Jewish safety.
