Some moments in life are so full of love, connection, and right place, right time magic that trying to put them into words feels impossible. But here’s my best attempt.

For the last six days, I was surrounded by my people—my BioSibs, my chosen family, the brothers and sisters I never knew existed for most of my life, but now can’t imagine my world without. This BioFest was one of the most meaningful yet—meeting four of my five new donor siblings, some of their partners, my nephew, and of course, being there to watch my baby brother walk down the aisle and exchange vows that left not a dry eye in the room.

I stayed up way later than I have in years (yes, 11 PM is late for me), playing, laughing, swapping and listening to stories, and yes, taking Jäger shots. And tonight, as I finally go to bed at a reasonable hour, I feel that kind of bittersweet sadness that only comes from a week so full of joy that leaving it behind feels almost impossible.

I know not every donor-conceived story is filled with this kind of love. I know my experience isn’t universal. But life hands us pieces of a story, and it’s up to us to decide what we do with them. We can resist it, wish it were different—or we can lean in, embrace the unknown, and let love, connection, and curiosity shape something even more beautiful.

For me, that meant finding not just family, but a home in the people who share my DNA, my history, and now—my future.

My BioSibs make my life, and my kids’ lives, richer, deeper, and better in ways I never could have imagined. And for that, I’ll never stop being grateful. 💛

Tell me: Have you ever found family in an unexpected place? I’d love to hear your story.
