One of Chappell Roan’s security guards allegedly confronted an 11-year-old girl in an aggressive way after she simply smiled at the singer, leaving the child in tears. Although the guard later accepted responsibility, many people still placed some blame on Roan or felt she should have handled the situation differently. Roan has been very vocal about her boundaries with fans. She’s described certain fan behavior as “creepy” or invasive and has emphasized that celebrities aren’t obligated to provide constant access to their lives. While some people—especially fellow artists—support her stance, others have criticized it, interpreting her attitude as “rude,” “ungrateful,” or even claiming that “she hates her fans.” Roman has reportedly even yelled at fans for simply saying hi. Here, Joey Votto grabbed a fan’s shirt reminding him he was a Cincinnati Reds fan and to let him catch the ball. Votto later apologized to the fan and gave him a baseball.
