My friend just stepped into a city that exists between two worlds — Istanbul.
Standing beneath the soaring domes of Hagia Sophia, she said she forgot how to breathe. The mosaic walls glowed like they were lit from within, carrying stories from Byzantine emperors to Ottoman sultans.
Then came the Blue Mosque — where 20,000 hand-painted Iznik tiles wrapped her in calm she hadn’t felt in years. Every arch, every shadow, every ray of light felt intentional. Like art decided to become architecture.
Istanbul doesn’t just show you history. It makes you feel it — in your chest, in your silence, in the way you slow down without realizing it.
