And then I returned to winter 2 weeks later 🥶😂 Needless to say, if living in the most beautiful city in the world (Cape Town) means that you have to suffer a couple of months in a cold winter I will bare it… Or go chase the sun during those rainy months 😉

On that note, here’s some notes on what I learned traveling to Greece as a South African ⬇️⬇️

➡️ Ferrys - Pre book them. It’s easy to do online and you get sent notifications if the ferry times change, because they are usually delayed.

➡️ Ubers - are shockingly expensive, but the Public transport works well in Greece. Try to learn where the bus stations and stops are and what times the busses operate. They are about €1.5 - €2 opposed to €50 for an Uber, which will take you about 3 - 5km.

➡️ Moola - If you withdraw cash from an ATM, withdraw more than less because of the banks fees. When you tap to pay, you’re going to be charge about 2% extra per tap. 

➡️ Food - Greece, like many parts of Europe, are expensive if you are sitting down and eating at restaurants. However, Gyros are cheap and delicious. You’re looking at €3.5 per gyros. Buying food and drinks dro of Mini-Market is a more affordable approach.

➡️ The Greeks - they appreciate it when you try to speak their language. Here’s some simple ones that I used a lot:
- Good Morning - Kaliméra
- Hello - Geiá sou
- Thank you - Efcharist- Where are you from? - Apó pou eísai?
