We both loved being back in the studio this week, reliving these old songs 10 years on.

This is technically how the song was first written: one guitar, one voice. I tend to stay close to my blues and country roots when I’m writing chords and melodies. rmacmanusmusic draws his lyrics from the world around him and a lifetime of musical experiences.

Together, we wrote Nothing I Can Do as a melancholic reflection on those moments when we genuinely thought we’d fucked it all up. It always felt destined to be a dark song…

Then Carlton came along, put drums to it, and turned it into a samba completely flipping the vibe on its head. Genius, really.
