I think as society we get some thing’s backwards. A man’s worth isn’t measured by his bank account, the car he drives, or the title on his LinkedIn profile. In my opinion, when you strip away all that noise…what really matters comes down to a few core questions that I feel reveal our true character.

Are you the kind of husband your wife deserves? Not just someone who’s there in the easy times, but a partner who shows up with the same commitment and energy you promised on day one? It’s easy to say “I love you,” but are you investing time and effort to genuinely prove it? 

As a dad, are you truly present? Showing up for your kids means more than just being around… it’s about being actively engaged, giving them your full attention in a world that’s always pulling us in different directions. Are you making memories with them that will shape who they become or are you just satisfied with being “present”?

Then, there’s friendship. Are you the kind of friend people can call, not just when things are good, but when life falls apart? Do you stand beside them without needing recognition, simply because it’s the right thing to do?

And finally, as a leader…whether it’s in business, your community, or your own home, are you setting the example when things get tough? 

Anybody can lead when life is smooth sailing BUT the real question is, who are you when the storm hits? How do you show up when it gets hard?

Life will bring challenges. It’s not a matter of “if” the hard times come, but “when.” And when they do, that’s when our character is truly revealed. 

The legacy you leave won’t be built on what you owned or what you earned, but rather how you acted, how you treated people, how you invested in your community, your children and your marriage.

Take a hard look at where you stand in each of these areas. Because at the end of the day, this is what counts and ultimately what you’ll be remembered for.
