Before they are even one day old, billions of baby chicks have their beaks seared off with a red-hot blade. 

No anesthetic. 

No pain relief.

Just searing heat through bone, cartilage, and nerve endings.

🐔 They are hours old when this happens.
The industry calls it "beak trimming." But there is nothing trim about it. 

A heated blade is pressed against their tiny beak, slicing through one of the most sensitive parts of their body.
