The sheer scale of the Union means many of its inhabitants can traverse the galaxy for a lifetime and barely scratch its surface. Countless worlds, endless possibilities—this is precisely what pulls so many across the stars.

For some, starships become their permanent homes: vast, self-contained worlds that drift between systems, their inhabitants politely indifferent to planetary life, save for occasional visits. Camille Rios, however, always knew her place in the long run would be terra firma. Even as she joined the fleet, her heart longed for the endless landscapes that defined her childhood - so when expecting, she didn’t hesitate to grant this experience to her soon-to-be son, even if it meant sacrificing her life as a fleet scientist. Her work would continue, just with a lot more space and fresher air.

In many ways, the adventure never stopped. The two of them explored Sedna together, and she instilled in him a zest for exploration, which naturally manifested in his own desire to see the very stars she had once traversed.

When her son, Roman, finally announced he was leaving to explore, Camille found herself caught between pride and quiet sadness. Yet she smiled, understanding that it was simply the fulfilment of everything she’d given him - the desire to search, question, and discover.
