Continuing with the Botanical division, let’s take a look inside one of their ships. This time, we’re aboard the Union vessel Thalia, currently on a mission to the far reaches of the sixth octant. Rumors of a sentient moss have piqued the crew’s interest—some are excited, others skeptical. The bonus was passing through the Tau sector, famous for its nightlife and cultural ‘exploits’. After weeks on board, the crew took full advantage.

On the Thalia, there’s no traditional captain, just an elected representative—a role passed around every few months to keep things light. The ship’s consciousness handles most operations with precision the crew can only admire. So, when a coded message arrived from whatever passes as higher authority in the Union, asking them to look out for a Ba’er transport vessel, it was met with bemusement. Not that the Union officially has higher powers, but someone cared enough to send the message. Maybe it was the intelligence bureau, though the idea of them contacting a botanical ship seemed amusing.

The ‘captain’ (in their last few days of term) and the ship’s consciousness pondered the message, scratching their heads (metaphorically in the ship’s case) . Why would they care about a Ba’er transport? Still, they widened the sensor field and got back to the more pressing matter: organizing Dr. Mirra Sevaris’ orchid splicing party. Costumes, naturally, were mandatory.
