🤖🤖🤖In the previous post, the geology lab received a lovely response with several requests for a deeper look. I seldom re-post, but for the love of the Geology Lab on UMB606, how could I refuse 🤖🤖🤖

The Geology Lab on the moon UMB606 garnered its reputation throughout the decades as an eminent, if not solitary, place to investigate rocks and hydrological processes. The structure expanded deep into the subterranean layers below it, also providing living space and communal areas to ‘socialise’. Its notable hexagonal shape is not purely aesthetic but rather a reference to the symbolism the form has in geology—incidentally, the hexagon has been the logo of the Union Geological Council for centuries.

Aside from new trainee arrivals once a year, life on UMB606 was sedate. That, however, was about to change when things started getting ‘unusual’ on Avasa, followed by the anomaly that sent their systems into a panic. Unbeknownst to the inhabitants of UMB606, their quiet moon was now on the frontier of a Vidyan civil conflict due to its proximity to their holy planet. The last thing its scientists wanted was to get involved, but with signals and the huge burst of light many saw, locals had to make decisions. Do they investigate, or stay put? When long-range comms malfunctioned, scientists on UMB606 reluctantly deemed it necessary to send a limited expedition towards the source of the activity.
