I was given an arc of the audiobook by the author to review for you all. The audiobook for A Man in Forest Hills will release on January 2nd 2020.
✨Synopsis ✨
Detective Thomas Kent, a by the book cop, wakes up in the hospital with no idea how or why he is there. He finds out from his partner that his wife and son have been murdered. It becomes Kents soul mission to figure who took his family from him and tried to kill him as well. When he discovers the person might be to close to home, Kent becomes fueled on rage and revenge. Will Kent get justice for his family or lose himself in the process? •
This is a classic story of good cop vs. bad cop. You find out very early in the story that Kent suspects someone in his department is responsible for the death of his family. This story gives me old school cop show vibes in the way that it is written. I really enjoyed it for that reason. I think the different personalities of the characters are handle very well throughout the story. The ending of the book took a different turn than I was expecting, and I was pleasantly surprised by that. •
Overall I really enjoyed the narrator throughout the book. He has a very raspy older tone to his voice which fits the characters extremely well. The pacing of his voice lended its self well to the storyline. I will say a couple of the voices sounded a bit to similar and made it hard to distinguish between the two characters speaking. But I still really enjoyed this audiobook. I would definitely recommend to you if you are into classic cop stories with a bit of a twist. 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 star’s
