the scene of chalk lines on a tennis court blew my mind when i first saw it in the founder movie. it introduced me to system design and the importance of process back in 2018.

later, my professor recommended i read the toyota way. the book drilled it deeper—about designing workflows that make work effortless.

when we started our first data annotation project, it was a mess.

wake up → firefight → get exhausted → repeat. 

we were drowning in tasks. no time to think, no time to grow.

ronak and i always had different approaches. he believes in building systems from day one. i wanted to scale fast and figure out systems and such stuff later. we argue (and still argue) a lot, but eventually, we arrived at a middle ground: we build systems the moment something becomes repeatable.

after the operational turmoil of our first project, we stepped back, dissected workflows, mapped processes, and optimized each component. a task requiring 60 minutes became 55, then 50.

we found equilibrium. from hiring to delivery, systemized approaches created leverage at every touchpoint.

today, when new projects arrive, we resist the urge to immediately execute. instead, we methodically map workflows and establish parameters—and man, it has made our life so simple.

so yeah, firefighting every day gives the illusion of progress and thrill, but systems help you advance while keeping focus on things that matter.
