When I transitioned, I had to pick a new name to replace my second name, which started with a K. After a lot of thought, I chose Caleb from the Bible because it means “faithfulness, courage and wholehearted devotion for God.” I replaced it with a K, and my brother max_creativedirection creative directed the spellings. My friends started calling me Kay - it just felt right.

The last few years have been anything but easy. Living with gender dysphoria demanded so much faith and courage. Some days, it felt like surviving was my only goal. I battled anxiety, panic attacks, and even suicidal thoughts. Walking into crowds, speaking to people, trying to keep it together - it was exhausting, especially when deep down, I kept asking myself, What’s wrong with me? But it’s the faith that kept me going.

I didn’t speak my truth because I was terrified of losing the people I love. I kept it all inside, not even sharing with my therapist, until this year. But now? I’m finally in a place where I can say it out loud: this is who I am.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that it’s never too late to choose yourself. Choosing life wasn’t easy, but I’m so grateful I did. For the first time, I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of.

I’m grateful to God, my parents, Manga, my closest friends, holistic coaches and my spiritual parents. Each of you played a part in helping me through this journey, even if you didn’t realize it. It’s been a journey of meditating, journaling, praying, and slowly rediscovering my authentic self. The journey isn’t over, but for the first time, I’m excited about where it’s taking me.

Here’s to the rise of Kayleb!

And nawoobaek —thank you for the perfect gift you brought me back from home. Grateful ❤️🌻✨
