Cosas que he aprendido sobre la luz en 8 años de trabajar de la mano de Carlos Avilés studiospaziolab. 

1. No hay luz sin sombra. El contraste es lo que lo vuelve mágico. 
2. No es lo mismo iluminar que alumbrar. 
3. Cuidado con las fuentes de luz de la casa. A veces son demasiado fuertes y “contaminan” el trabajo de iluminación del jardín, creando “efecto espejo” en vidrios por dentro. 
4. Iluminar en capas, como si fuese un cuadro impresionista, para dar dimensión y profundidad al jardín. 
5. Aprovechar árboles altos para dar escala al sitio, también se puede iluminar árboles que están fuera del predio con equipos potentes de largo alcance. 
6. No debe haber brillos. La luz se ve, pero en el objeto iluminado jamás desde la fuente. 
7. Los equipos tampoco deben verse. 
8. El jardín no debe estar iluminado en su totalidad. 
9. Tener cuidado con el exceso de luz, se vuelve contaminación lumínica, afectando a polinizadores nocturnos. 
10. Crear diferentes escenas en el jardín, no se tiene que prender todo el tiempo ni todas las áreas.

The garden transforms itself at night. Having worked with Carlos Avilés for more than 8 years has taught me valuable lessons about light and reading it in the landscape.

 1.⁠ ⁠There’s no light without shadow. Contrast makes it magical.
 2.⁠ ⁠Illuminating and lighting are not the same.
 3.⁠ ⁠Beware of indoor light sources, as they can be too strong and disrupt garden lighting, creating an “mirror effect” on windows.
 4.⁠ ⁠Always illuminate in layers, like an impressionist painting, for depth and dimension.
 5.⁠ ⁠Take advantage of tall trees for scale and light those outside the property with powerful long-range equipment.
 6.⁠ ⁠Avoid glare; light should be seen on illuminated objects, not from the source.
 7.⁠ ⁠Equipment should remain invisible.
 8.⁠ ⁠Never fully illuminate the garden.
 9.⁠ ⁠Avoid excessive lighting, causing light pollution harmful to nocturnal pollinators.
