Climate stories featured in this week’s newsletter (sent out yesterday)

- All about Hurricane Beryl and the damage it caused in Texas and Mexico.

The remnants of the storm are still impacting the weather in the US and have spawned suspected tornadoes and caused damages.

Over 2 million people were left without power Houston in searing heat with officials trying to restore electricity supply.

A clearer picture is also emerging of the losses it caused in the Caribbean. (More on that in today’s story that I will be sharing next.)

- Within days of getting elected, the UK’s new labour government has overturned the ban on onshore winds that was put in place by the previous Tory government.

- June was the latest month to be confirmed hottest on record. With this, we have completed 13 months in a row where global average temperatures have been hottest on record. 2024 is on track to be the hottest year.

And more about Lake Pergusa, Google’s rising emissions due to artificial intelligence, air pollution reducing chances of successful births through IVF, Delhi’s dust risking air crafts and the ancient Indian tree being planted in the US.
