Easing my way back into sport after years of poor health has been one of the hardest things I’ve done. It’s confronting to feel so far behind when fitness used to be my whole world. But there’s also a gift here, a chance to build on my resilience in real time.

We hear so much about self-esteem, self-worth, and positive self-talk but one of the most overlooked pieces of upgrading your self-concept is self-efficacy.

Self-efficacy isn’t about believing you’re good enough in theory, it’s about building trust with yourself through action. It’s about showing up, even when you’re not good at something yet. It’s about staying in the discomfort long enough to actually see yourself improve, to witness your body and mind adapt to what once felt impossible.

Most people never develop self-efficacy because they don’t have the resilience to tolerate the messy middle. They quit before they give themselves the chance to experience proof of what they’re capable of.

But this is where real self-trust is built not in the perfect, polished version of you, but in the gritty, awkward, humbling process of becoming. Every rep, every attempt, every small step forward is evidence you can do hard things.

The more you can hold yourself through the challenge, the more you expand your capacity to achieve the things that once felt out of reach. And that’s where the deepest confidence and freedom live.

If you’re ready to start rewriting the stories that hold you back and build the kind of self-trust that changes everything, my Glow Up Codes Self-Concept Guide is the perfect place to begin. DM me to learn more ❤️
