My viral “stop eating at 7pm” reel not only hit over 1 million views, but got copied by many people - including a longevity doctor with hundreds of thousands of followers.

The comments created massive debate:

“This is absolutely false! It doesn’t matter when you eat as long as you’re in a calorie deficit! Stop spreading misinformation!”

Let’s address the controversy:

You’re right about ONE thing: A calorie deficit is required for fat loss. No debate there!

But here’s what you’re missing: For women over 40, there’s a massive difference between “losing weight” and “optimizing metabolic health.”

The Science Behind Meal Timing:

🧬 Melatonin-Insulin Research: Research shows people who take melatonin have reduced insulin sensitivity. We are less insulin sensitive in the presence of melatonin.

😴 Sleep-Hormone Connection: Poor sleep caused by eating late increases ghrelin (hunger hormone) and decreases leptin (satiety hormone).

🩸 Morning Glucose Impact: Sleep disruption causes an increase in morning glucose levels.

What I See in My Practice:

Women following progressive overload programs with trainers - losing fat and looking better - BUT still having climbing A1c numbers that put them at risk for diabetes.

Many aren’t even overweight but have high A1c levels.

The Real Issue:

You’re focused on: Body composition only

I’m focused on: Sleep, blood sugar, stress, insulin sensitivity and cortisol - and how they ALL impact your ability to STAY in that deficit

Looking better ≠ Being metabolically healthier

For women over 40, meal timing impacts:

	•	Ability to maintain that calorie deficit
	•	Blood sugar management & insulin sensitivity
	•	Sleep quality (which affects everything)

The research on sleep, blood sugar, and stress is extensive - this isn’t one study, it’s a large body of research.

I’m not disputing weight loss science, I’m adding metabolic health science that many trainers miss.

Comment “DIGEST” for my digestion and metabolism reset guide for women over 40 - because your gut health has a massive impact on your immune system and body composition.
