💙A new find on Montjuïc: La Font del Gat has reopened

If you haven’t walked around Montjuïc in a while here’s a reason to go back.

They’ve restored the legendary La Font del Gat. And it’s genuinely beautiful.
The history of this place is very warm: back in the early 20th century, locals would come here for “fontades” folk gatherings by the fountain. Food, wine, dancing, conversations until dark.

The restaurant building was designed by Puig i Cadafalch in 1925 (my favorite architect, by the way). And the garden around it is so atmospheric you want to sit there with a book or write love poems on napkins.
It’s wonderful that nearly 100 years later, this place has come alive again.

Right now it’s calçot season there.

The Calçotada menu is €32 per person (weekends)It includes:
∙ salad
∙ 12 calçots + romesco sauce
∙ pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato)
∙ a portion of grilled meat
All of this on a terrace, surrounded by greenery, with the feeling that Barcelona’s noise is somewhere far away. Even though it’s literally at your feet.

They also often have live music: jazz, rumba, folk, or a DJ. So if you’re looking for a plan for the weekend here it is.

In short: Montjuïc + calçots + terrace is a very pleasant experience. Definitely worth a visit. 😉
