🌒 Ring of Fire Over the Frozen Edge of the World 🔥❄️

On February 17, 2026, the sky above Antarctica turned into a celestial masterpiece.
A blazing circle of light — a perfect fiery halo — burned against one of the most remote landscapes on Earth.

This wasn’t just another eclipse.
It was an annular solar eclipse, where the Moon slipped between Earth and the Sun — but, being near apogee, appeared slightly smaller than the Sun’s disk.
Instead of total darkness, a radiant ring of sunlight encircled the Moon’s silhouette.

For nearly 2 minutes and 20 seconds, the “Ring of Fire” crowned the Antarctic sky.

The path of annularity carved a narrow corridor nearly 616 km wide and 4,282 km long across the icy wilderness — witnessed by only a handful of researchers at remote stations like Concordia.

Elsewhere, southern Africa, the tips of Argentina and Chile, and vast stretches of ocean watched the Sun take a dramatic partial bite.
