People-pleasing didn’t look obvious to me while I was in it.

Most of the time it just felt like I was being considerate, supportive, or trying not to let people down.

It wasn’t until I was talking things through in therapy that I started noticing that a lot of the decisions I had made weren’t really mine.

They were decisions shaped by me trying to keep other people comfortable… not by my own best interests.

And I’ve learned that when you live like that long enough, you slowly lose touch with what you actually want in life.
