By the shores of Lake Atitlán, clay becomes memory.
Ancestral ceramics are shaped by hand using techniques passed from mothers to daughters, elders to new apprentices coiling, burnishing, and open-fire firing that honor the rhythm of the land. The earth from the lake’s surroundings carries volcanic minerals, giving each piece its strength, color, and soul.

Today, these ancestral processes also dialogue with contemporary engobe techniques, where natural slips and pigments are layered onto the clay, expanding expression while respecting tradition. These vessels are are offerings, tools for daily life, and guardians of stories. Each symbol speaks of water, corn, fertility, protection, and the cycles of time.

For the communities around Lake Atitlán, working with clay is not a way of living; an everyday practice where territory, ancestry, and survival are shaped by hand.
